Meet Amanda and Reggie, the faces behind Darwin's newest mobile bar service.
Escaping Melbourne in 2013, like mobs of Territorians, Amanda and Reggie moved to Darwin for a lifestyle change. Since then they've had a little boy Tate and it's here in Darwin where they have decided to raise him and their boxer pup Hank. They love nothing more than hitting the water for a fish, or going off road camping to explore the very best swimming spots the Territory has to offer.
"We have always loved the whole 'Pop up' scene!"
Loving the pop up scene so much, Amanda and Reggie often sat and chatted about different ideas to break into it. It wasn't until they had their baby that they thought if they could do anything now would be the time.
"The idea of a bar was perfect because it suits both our personalities and we have spent a lot of time on the other side of one before parenthood," Amanda laughed.
Amanda said anyone who knows them would be able to vouch that they love hosting parties, always trying to think out the box to make the next one even better.
She said that's where their cocktail package came from. "Everyone loves a cocktail in a nice glass but not everyone wants to make one or has the glassware."
"So hire us and we'll do it all for you and take the mess with us!" she said.
"We try to take care of the environment"
Their bar is a BYO service giving the party-giver full flexibility of purchasing their favourite drinks for Amanda and Reggie to serve to their guests. The bar service is inclusive of the mobile bar, staff (Amanda & Reggie) and beautiful glassware for wine, champagne and cocktails. However, if the host would prefer them to do a package and include alcohol this could be arranged. They would just need at least four weeks notice before the event to arrange a special liquor licence.
The bar is on wheels, 2m in length and 750mm wide, making it accessible for both indoors and outdoors. Amanda said they are very flexible with what they can do and are happy to adapt to cater for any event.
"We offer a three hour cocktail package which is perfect for those backyard garden parties or a hens party (we'll have to replace Reggie for the night). The host chooses the cocktails and we make them for the evening.
"We try to care for the environment as much as possible so we use paper straws for cocktails, as well as collect and recycle all bottles used throughout the evening for all of our events," she said.
Raise the Bar NT is open to anything. They don't want to be pigeon holed in certain events.Their bar is quite versatile so would suit any event at any location.
"Our bar will fit into a lift, someone's backyard and can easily be towed into the wilderness for an outback wedding," said Amanda.
"We're here to help our clients with whatever creative event they have in mind.
"We love Darwin and its surrounds, and can't wait to show off our bar in all of these locations! But, absolutely we would go to Katherine if the opportunity arose," she said.
